Yuzhimu High Performance Nonwoven: High Strength, Stability and Process Efficiency

Yuzhimu nonwovens exhibit exceptional mechanical strength and stability. The continuous filament network yields very high tensile and tear strength and rigidity, while still permitting flexibility. In performance testing this translates to strengths often well above that of conventional staple-fiber nonwovens of similar weight (for example, Yuzhimu carpet backings may support 5× or more the tension of ordinary spunbond backings). The bicomponent structure also provides outstanding structural stability: cut edges do not fray or curl, giving clean edges and dimensional consistency. Yuzhimu offers excellent elongation (strain at break) relative to many technical textiles; for example Yuzhimu automotive backings can stretch significantly to allow molded carpet forming, enabling material savings and lower processing temperature. Its special fiber engineering yields thermal stability – the web retains shape and strength even under high processing temperatures (important for coating or thermoforming). Because Yuzhimu webs are composed of well-distributed filaments, the material is essentially isotropic; mechanical properties (tensile, tear) are very similar in MD and CD, benefiting processes like tufting and laminating where bidirectional strength is critical.

By design Yuzhimu’s porosity and permeability are tunable. Standard Yuzhimu is an open, porous web that allows air or liquids to pass easily – much more permeable than dense meltblown media. However, because bond points can be closely spaced, overall permeability is moderate and can be reduced by higher basis weight or coatings. Yuzhimu’s combination of strength, stability and processability has led to many uses. Automotive is a key market: Yuzhimu backings support premium car carpets from tufting to molded form. These backings allow complex shape molding at lower temperature and cycle time (saving energy), while securely locking pile yarns. The Yuzhimu’s popularity in Xiaomi,JILI, BYD carpets. Related automotive uses include trunk liners, acoustic damping layers, and insulation mats. In building and flooring, Yuzhimu is used as carpet tile backings and underlayments – often with glass scrims – to provide dimensional stability and thermal/acoustic insulation. For filter media, Yuzhimu serves as substrate or support: it is employed in air handling units, cabin air filters, and pleated filters.

Due to its engineered nature, Yuhzimu is generally more expensive per square meter than commodity nonwovens. However, its high strength-to-weight ratio often yields cost savings in end applications. For example, Yuhzimu allowed automakers to pre-stretch carpets (using less fiber) and shorten molding cycles, so overall system costs fell despite higher material cost. In filters, a Yuhzimu support layer can enable finer filter media with longer life. Cost factors include polymer type (PET is costlier than PP), fiber diameter (finer fibers cost more to extrude), and additives (scrims add expense). Like all specialized textiles, Yuhzimu pricing is project-specific. Users must balance upfront material cost against lifecycle benefits: durability, performance and weight reduction. In many high-tech fields, the performance gains justify the premium.
